Valuheart (Monthly) Brown for Dogs 20-40 kg/44 to 88 lbs 1.00

Valuheart heartworm medicine is available without a prescription by purchasing from here.  Out of all the heartworm medicine options available it is one of the best priced of all the generic heartworm medicines available.

Before we make a purchase of heartworm medications it is always a good idea to understand exactly what we are purchasing. If nothing else it will help to put our minds at rest by knowing exactly what is in the contents of the pet medicines we are using.

Valuheart Heartworm Tablets

Valuheart heartworm medicine is what is know as a generic heartworm medicine. By this we are saying that it is not a well known brand such as Heartgard but performs the same function. Namely that of preventing our Dogs from getting heartworms.

The active ingredient in Valuheart is Ivermectin. This is the same as the active ingredient in Heartgard that stops heartworms from forming. Ivermectin medicine works by destroying the larval stage of the adult heartworm that is introduced to our pets when a mosquito bites them. It will work effectively for a month and can be given a month after a suspected exposure to the worm carrying mosquito.

Valuheart is a very inexpensive alternative to the more “branded” heartworm preventatives. At $20 for a six month course it is by far one of the cheapest ways to guard against heartworms in Dogs. The packs come color coded so it is easy to determine what you need to purchase to protect Dogs against heartworm infections. The chart makes it very easy to determine what valuheart tablets you need. As just stated the first dose can be given up to a month after your pet has been exposed to mosquitoes. However, it can be given up to four months after exposure to mosquitoes that may carry larval heartworms. This is before they have become adults. This course must then be continued for at least twelve months though for it to be effective. This is only neccessary if you suspect infection more than a month before you begin treatment.

In normal cases you can simply give Valuheart a month either side of the mosquito season. Things are now changing though and the heartworm society now recommend giving heartworm for Dogs every month of the year. You can see the heartworm society site for more information.

Valuheart Vs Heartgard

Heartgard has the added advantage of preventing roundworms and hookworms. However it is considerably more expensive. The heartworm medicine you decide upon will depend on whether intestinal worms are a problem for your pet. If they may be a problem then Heartgard will effectively treat for all worms in one easy to take tablet. Valuheart heartworm tablets will not treat for intestinal worms but that may not be needed for many animals.

Valuheart is also not a tasty flavor like other meds may be. This is not really an issue though as most tablets are always given mixed with a little treat to ensure that our pets take them.

It is important to watch our pets to ensure that they take the tablet so never walk away just assuming your Dog has taken its medication. Dogs have a nsty habit of spitting out meds as soon as our backs are turned. Ensure the heartworm medication has been swallowed before you take leave of your pet.

Conclusion

If you simply wish to guard against heartworms for Dogs then Valuheart is a very well priced alternative to more branded products. It has the same active ingredient and has gone through the same safety procedures. Ivermectin is the active ingredient and has been tested to ensure its safety so there is no additional risk of side effects than you would have by using a more branded name.

If you are on a budget then valuheart heartworm medicine may be the answer you have been looking for.
